The Unwritten Road

  Recently I've been seeing articles and videos on Sigma brush cleaning mat or mitt and was contemplating purchasing it. I started to look up reviews on the product, then thought to myself why don't I try to make my own before forking out $40. If my DIY didn't work then I would only be a few dollars, but if it was good then I'd be saving lots of money. Turns out that the DIY cost my $3 and this is honestly the new way I clean my makeup brushes.

    The UnWritten Road is something i'm beginning to accept. I have always been a planner, yes I was one of those crazy people that had their life planned out and I have recently accepted that I can't plan my life. It's crazy to look back and think I had a plan to go to university for 4 years then get this amazing job right after school, be in a serious relationship, get married and have a child by 28. Truth is none of this plan is correct it is all completely different, I m not taking the written road I had planned for myself. I was in university for 6 years not the normal 4-5 years, and changing my mind half way through on what I wanted my degree to be. I recently graduated in May and I don't have a job in my field, I still have my job I had in university. Now it might be that there is no jobs in my field and the fact that i'm terrified of change or trying new things. I'm not in a serious relationship well i'm not in a relationship at all, matter of fact i've never been in a serious relationship. My life plan is crumbling under my feet, I haven't achieved a single thing. This year i've decided that I can't look at my life plan, just think of all the things I have accomplished like starting a blog, graduating university, thinking of moving out etc. This is why I have named this blog the unwritten road, because I'm taking the unwritten road in my life.

For removing my make-up I would always use a make-up wipe but recently i've been trying out new products as I found a make-up wipe wouldn't remove all my make-up and there would still be eye makeup left more then likely mascara or eyeliner left. I

I'm always on the hunt to better my skincare routine and to be honest I can be quit lazy with my skincare, but I have come up with the perfect skincare routine for myself. My skin especially in the cold and dry winter weather is quit dry and is uneven with red patches.

  First Aid Beauty was a brand I didn't know much about except a lot of people rave about it especially youtubers. It was a random purchase as I was in Sephora one day, and they had their value sets out for the holiday season. I happened to see a value set for first aid beauty and decided to get it on a whim. I don't really know a lot about skincare and what products I should be using on my skin, I've always just used drugstore stuff so i decided to give this stuff a try.

 First Aid Beauty also known as FAB's products are free of harsh chemicals, paragons, fragrances and alcohol. Which makes it great for people who have sensitive and/or dry skin. It is even recommended for people with eczema. Just after using this product for a few days I could notice an improvement in my skin.



  I use 2 products from first-aid beauty, they have more products that are suitable for different skin types. The 2 products I used came in a value set with a chapstick, for the 3 products it was $40 (CAD), which is significantly cheaper then buying them seperate.

 The products I use are:


1. Ultra Repair Wash: 235ml (special size for value set)
                                  full size 473ml $31 (CAD)

   This face wash is amazing, I found that with other cleansers my face would feel dry or tight after using it. This wash feels milky, making it a hydrating cleanser on your face, not leaving it dry afterwards. I use the face wash every morning, when I wake up to start my skin care routine.

2. Ultra Repair Cream: 6.0oz $37 CAD

   This moisturizer is amazing. I can't rant about it enough. The formula is thick but it blends into the skin with no effort and a small amount goes a long way. The only down size is that it takes a few minutes to soak into your skin but thats with any moisturizer. I find that a lot of moisturizers can leave an oily film on your skin, but this one doesn't it soaks into the skin and I can apply make-up right on top of it.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm: 125ml $36 CAD

  I find the balm is great at removing all makeup including stubborn waterproof mascara or eyeliner. The formula goes from a balm like texture reminding me off coconut milk to oil and then a mile face cleanser formula. This formula is gentle enough to use of the eyes. This product has changed the way I remove my makeup.

    New Year, New Me. How many times do you hear that saying every year? only about a dozen. LOL. Honestly though every year I make new years resolutions and they always fail, so this year I decided to try to change things up a little. This year I decided to make goals because to me they are more obtainable and I have more motivation to work towards them.

Goals for 2016.

1. Take more pictures
   When I am out on adventures with friends or am traveling I find that I get caught up in the excitement and forget to take pictures.  Yes it is great to get caught up in the moment but having pictures to look back on in a few years is something awesome, and brings back all the amazing memories you made.This year I hope to take more pictures, especially on my exciting travels coming later the year.



2. Read
   I was a child that hated reading. When I think back to my childhood, I hated the thought of having silent reading or having reading for homework. I think my hate started because my reading level was lower then the rest of my class, yes it might have hindered me growing up as it takes me way longer to read then all my friends. I have found some books that I enjoy reading and they are by Sarah Dessen, so my goal is to try and read more. I have also read Girl Online and enjoyed it so i'm going to  read Girl Online On Tour next.



3. Be Healthier
    I have learned you can't just go cold turkey on your habits. So i've decided to take baby steps, I am an avid pepsi/coke drinker so my first goal is to give up soda. So far so good, I haven't completely stopped but testing myself once a week is fine for a while until I don't find myself reaching for it at all. I am also looking for healthier alternatives for my lunches and food i'm drinking. To try and fit in physical activity, I try to so some at home workout once every 2 days. I might even try the squat challenges etc that have been going around.


Let's make these goals happen.

  It blows my mind at just how fast each year goes by. It feels as if it is still April and I am cramming for my last final exams until I graduate, but its some how January 2016. Looking back at 2015, the year was nothing like what I had anticipated. I learned and grew so much over the past year and made a lot of changes, and I wouldn't have changed a thing. I can't wait to see what 2016 will bring and the new adventures I will go on.

   Looking back at 2015, I rang in the new year with one of my closest friends and we just chilled and watched movies. We didn't go party like everyone else our age. I can still remember the resolutions I made, which looking back on it was so cringe worthy because they are ones that everyone makes like eat healthy and loose weight, of course I didn't achieve them. January was the month were I would get back into my routine of being in school Monday to Friday, and working 5 days a week. It was difficult the stress of work and school was hard as this was my last semester before I graduated and my marks really did matter, I had to bring up my GPA. I wouldn't change a thing because I quickly learned how to manage my time and I started to learn who my real friends are. This was my life until later April when exams were over. In May I graduated University and I don't think I have ever been so proud of myself because school was a real struggle for me, those nights of staying up until 5am to finish a paper or staying up late studying paid off. I am also so thrilled to have graduated with a friend that I have gone to school with my entire life.
 Later May 2015 my family and I went on a vacation to Orlando, Florida and then a cruise. This was by far my favourite vacation I have ever been on. Leaving the cold, dam weather and being able to relax in the heat was awesome. I have traveled to Florida to before but never on a cruise. I remember waiting to get on the boat, and just looking up and thinking OMG this thing can float. A cruise ship is amazing and the way to travel, the boat is like a moving hotel. It has all the amenities you need and activities, oh and not to mention delightful weather. Every morning when I woke up we would be in port in a different country. I was able to experience so many new and exciting opportunities. I could talk about the cruise forever, but I won't.  The summer in general was difficult for me, I started to learn who my true friends were. I didn't like that I was drifting away from people because my friends were my comfort blanket. I learned who truthfully was there for me and who wasn't. To be honest this couldn't have come at a more better time because changes were happening in my personal life. I hate change and I mean HATE it, I'm terrified of trying new things but I had to be the better person and accept what was happening.



  The fall was different then normal for me because I wasn't in school, and this is the first time that I haven't been in school my entire life and found it so different. All of a sudden I didn't know the days of the week because my work schedule is all over the place and I have no real routine. I'm still trying to figure this routine thing out currently but it will come with time.

   The year ended on a positive note, I know now who my true friends are. I can go to them about anything. This year has had a lot of ups and downs but I wouldn't change it for anything. I can't wait to see what 2016 has to bring, lets just hope not a tone of change.
